NSW Weightlifting is covering the course cost of $250.00 for up to 20 participants to attend the Standard Mental Health First Aid® Course
Please note that course participants are required to be members of NSW Weightlifting and 18 years or over to attend.
This course teaches you how to provide initial support to someone who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.
What you will learn:
• How to recognise signs of mental health problems – depression, anxiety, psychosis and substance use problems
• How to provide initial support to someone who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis
• How to use ALGEE, the evidence-based Mental Health First Aid Action Plan
• How to recognise and respond to the following mental health crises - suicidal thoughts and behaviours, panic attacks, traumatic events, severe psychotic states, severe effects from alcohol or other drug use, aggressive behaviours
Format: This is a 2-day face-to-face workshop
Day 1: Sunday 19 March 2023 (8:30am - 4:30pm)
Day 2: Sunday 26 March 2023 (8:30am - 4:30pm)
After attending the course you can choose to complete a short on-line assessment and become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider.
